In order to avoid contracting a skin infection or illness, there are some important cautions you should take:
- Bodily fluids transmit the most germs and they are extremely potent. Be extremely cautious when in an environment where there may be bodily fluids such as gyms and be sure to cleanse yourself immediately after coming in contact with other bodily fluids. The CDC suggests that you should wash your hands with warm water and soap for the duration that it takes you to sing “Happy Birthday” twice.
- Environments, where sweat, saliva, and blood are commonly found, can easily spread viruses from person to person. These viruses have become more lethal in recent years so be sure to wash your hands regularly throughout the day. If you do not have access to a sink then use a sanitizer directly after you come into contact with bodily fluids or a particularly germ-infested surface such as a gas pump.
- The easiest way to transmit germs is to touch your face and mouth. Be mindful when going to touch your nose, mouth, or eyes and think back to the last time you washed your hands. Did you touch something gross between now and the last time you sanitized or washed your hands? If the answer is yes then you should sanitize again to avoid spreading harmful bacteria to where you are more vulnerable.
